This story simmers slowly, like soup you forgot on the back burner—it’s calm until suddenly, the lid rattles, and you’re questioning everyone’s intentions. Terry’s dark past bubbles up, Filene’s ex won’t take the hint, and paranoia seeps into the pages like cold fog rolling across your kitchen floor.

I liked the premise, and there are moments that had my stomach doing nervous little flips, but it does take its time warming up. Some twists you’ll see coming, some will make you whisper, “Wait… what?” into your coffee. Overall, it’s a dark little domestic suspense with an undercurrent of obsession and just enough tension to keep you flipping pages.
