The Boys Season 4: My Thoughts So Far
The Boys Season 4 Premiered Its 4 Episodes, And Here Is What I Think of It So Far
I am a huge fan of this Amazon TV show. Plain and simple: it's one of my all-time favorites. I loved Season One because it introduced us to the wild, mind-blowing world-building which comprised of evil superheroes controlled by a corrupt corporation. I loved Season Two because it gave the characters a whole lot of depth. Season Three, because it was so edgy, dark, action-packed, and entertaining. And now, I gotta say I still love the fourth season despite what everyone says.
Positives:
HOMELANDER
When I first watched the first season in 2019, I could tell this character was going to be a TRUE Menace. Especially after the episode where he(spoilers)left people to die in the plane crash. Anthony Starr has bought to life one of the most terrifying, unpredictable, love-to-hate supervillains in Television history. This season, we get to understand why he's like this. When we learn about the torture he endured in the lab, we suddenly understand him. He's so disturbing in this season, and I love that. Give this actor an Emmy!VICTORIA NEWMAN
SISTA SAGE
A brand-new Supe has joined the Seven, and it's the world's smartest black woman. I do love the character's personality and quirks. I love the fact that she just spits raw facts to everyone and is not a kiss-ass to Homelander, like Ashley and The Deep. I want to see how smart she really is though. All we've seen is her spitting raw facts, but I want to see her solve impossible problems. Like show me an evil genius kind of smart.
A-TRAIN
I hated this guy from Season One. I mean, he's the one who dragged poor Hughie into this chaotic mess of a world. But I gotta say, Season Three is when he changed my mindset about him. I love that he wants to do right by his big brother. He wants to change his narcissistic ways and prove that he's nowhere near the level of evilness like Homelander is. I hope he doesn't die this season because I really like his redemption.
BLACK NOIR II
OMG! This actor is talented. He played a brain-dead assassin from season One to a guy who just wants a proper DIRECTION. He cracks me up so much. He's one of the reasons why this season is the funniest.
Negatives:
FIRECRACKER
When Stormfront appeared in Season Two, I hated her the moment she uttered her first dialogue. She was cocky, smug and annoying even though she did give off that Don't-mess-with-me-cause-I-don't-take-crap attitude. Then she killed(Spoiler) Kenji, Kimiko's brother. From then on, she became my most hated character. But it seems someone has taken the Nazi Supe's rightful place. This redneck trailer trash seems to have a past with Starlight back in her pageant days. Not only that, she's a pedo. Or was a child predator, getting jiggy with a 15-year old. Whoever this actress is, she's really doing a good job making me despise her. There is nothing good about this character. I can't wait to see Starlight beat her to a pulp, but not get caught up with the media this time.
ASHLEY BARRET
I do not hate Ashley. She's one of my favorite characters, don't get me wrong. But man, I just don't get her motivations. Why is she still working with Vought? Please, just quit! I hope she does in the season finale or Season 5(final season), cause I'm getting tired of seeing her terrified of Homelander. Or kissing his ass. By the way, she should come up with a better comeback against Homelander.
THE POLITICS
I know the showrunner announced that the show is a political satire, but man, in my opinion, I think it's taking away the fun of the show. This season is full of making fun of American politics and It's not very intriguing for me. I'm not a fan of this Starlight movement or Critical Supe Theory, cause that's not what the comics by Garth Ennis were really about. Yeah, I read the comics.
Those are my overall thoughts. There's a lot more but will discussed later. In the next post, I'll talk about my theories for the remaining four episodes so please STAY TUNED.
